Bob and Maria - some more mates of Prawn Man

This is the 3rd and final post about Prawn Man's mates. He was so proud to introduce them to us.

Lol, yes, I'm still banging on about that ... yes, still down by the lake, serving up more of these pictures to you!!

Previously I posted about George of Mykanos who was one lucky Pelican.
We've also established that Prawn Man is a big softie :D)

However, George the Pelican has a Big Mouth (in more ways than one), and just couldn't help bragging to Maria the Swan about his freebie meal courtesy of the Prawn Man.

Maria, left off eating the bland old sea grass and excitedly paddled off to find her partner Bob.

Now Bob's a laid back kind of fellow.  He likes a quiet life poking around the jetty wall feeding on bits and pieces...

however, Bob is a particular favourite mate of the Prawn Man and Maria needs Bob to get on over there and let Prawn Man know that they're up for a free meal too!

Bob's not too keen on leaving those tasty little morsels he's found clinging to the rock wall and needs a little bit of encouragement from Maria

Oh no, George the Pelican has come back and is going to get the lot!

All is not lost though.  Hero Bob sails in and saves the day.  Yummo, thanks Prawn Man - he knows that prawns are Bob's fave snack!

Both Bob and Maria happily tuck into their special treats, and George knows there's always tomorrow.

This little fellow watched with quiet amusement as all that drama played out - he waits and gets to clean up the scraps from everyone.  All he has to do is just float around and bide his time, no need to move a muscle really! Cool, Carl the Crab Cool,  (I named that one) ;D)

Thanks for bearing with my rather lengthy stories about one particular walk!  There's always a bit of action going on down by the lake.

Cheers now!

A bit soggy

Pity the one who has to get out of the ute (truck) to open this gate - a bit of a soggy spot...

... although, it looks like they're well prepared for it.

George of Mykanos

Following on from my previous post of jellyfish sightings.  You can see I'm still in "fresh seafood" territory:

MD and I were hanging around the jetty and walkway when the Prawn Man asked if we'd mind his boat while he went across the road for a short while.  It was only a matter of staying where we were and telling anyone who came to his boat that he'd be back soon.  I had momentary visions of us spending some time in his boat - oh well!
When he came back he asked us if we wanted to meet some of his mates.

First of all, George of Mykanos:

He's made himself quite at home amongst the fishing boats...

... and George really loves his tucker:

The Prawn Man starts calling "George",  "George",  "come here George"

Whoah !!  George sprang into action ....

... couldn't get there quick enough, ha ha, he nearly burst a valve !

... got there just in time for Prawn Man's tossed fish (which might be a bit hard to see - I've have arrowed it)

we could feel George's delight - a free meal - yum!

More of Prawn Man's mates next post.  Cheers now :D)

The things you see when you do have a camera!I

Felt like a walk by the water this morning, have been there lots of times and have thousands of photos of that particular spot but, something made me grab the glovebox point-and-shoot just in case and, boy, was I rewarded!
You've got to look extra hard in this pic to see what I'm on about ..... to the left of my watermark and you'll see

This is how close I was able to get to them.
There were a few happily floating in the water alongside the walkway, they'd hide down around and behind the pylons then float back out again.  I was good and ready for them.

This is a crop from the photo above, to show its cross marking on top

I had earlier this morning made a comment on Deb's Ramblings of a Square Peg in a Round Hole post on the beauty of her water shots - the beautiful patterns and reflections.
Her work inspired me to take this particular photo as well as some others ... Thanks Deb :D)

I took these from looking down at them from the walkway.
To me they look like real underwater shots.

Walking further on, I found this one had beached itself.
My first instinct was to try and get it back into the water but, the tide was coming in so best to leave things alone I felt.

Another one a bit further along, the water had reached it.

Looking back to the walkway.  I took my first few photos on the other side of that boat cruise ticket office.

Last one ... again with the irresistible reflections - a smaller jellyfish, a bit hard to see,
but, once again, to the left of my watermark.

It was such a great morning for that walk... came across more interesting things too - they involve George of Mykanos, and Bob and Maria.  Will save that for my next post, have overdone the photo count, I'm sure, in this one!!

Cheers and, as always, thanks for your visit :D) xx

Sunday Stuff: gnomes, a plug and some beetling around...

A Home for some Gnomes amongst the hardy Succulents:
It is such a lovely day here - the sun is shining and the gnomes are smiling:
I'm starting up a new collection of succulents using anything to hand.  They're such adaptable and reliable plants.  For instance, the two plants in the black pots sat for 3 months without light and water over the Summer period, waiting patiently for us to get back to them.  They were a bit thinner of course, but are "in the pink" once again. How resilient is that!  They deserve recognition :D)

Reading about the prolonged cold and snowy conditions in blogger friends' posts from 'over the pond' and how they adapt, is quite awe inspiring too. Spring is on its way for you and, over here, the signs of Autumn will soon be showing, I'm particularly looking forward to the beautiful changes of colours in the trees before they shed their leaves.

A Plug!
Many of you would have noticed that, over the years, I've been an avid fan of Aussie author Vicki Tyley.  She writes mystery and suspense stories which I've enjoyed reading, and always have no hesitation in recommending.
We've become good blogfriends and, in turn, Vicki was one of the people who initially encouraged my fledgling attempts at art, and so it goes.

So, I want to give her a plug... one of her books:

has been nominated for "Big Al's Books and Pals 2014 Readers' Choice Awards" in the Mystery category.  Anyway, Vicki explains it better than I on her blogspot which is http://vickityley.blogspot.com.au/

If you have a moment, pop over and check it out. There's a giveaway raffle for entries, not only in the Mystery category but others as well.  It all ends in 4 days' time, and thanks for taking the time to read my 'plug'.  I love to share good stuff :D)

Now for a close encounter:
Found this cute little beetle on my Peace Lily flower the other day.  Goodness knows how he got there but I found him a new home outdoors.

Thanks for your visit.
Enjoy your Sunday and the rest of the week.
I wish you lots of happiness and peace :D)

Drifting through...

As a follow up to a recent post where I was being 'watched' by a pair of art lovers/critics:

I thought I'd share the way I dilly-dally around with my paintings.

This one is called "Drifting through Fairy Dell".
Fairy Dell is a beautiful piece of rainforest and I was inspired to have a go at creating that timeless sort of feeling I used to get when we were standing down in amongst it.

I like to take progress photos for 3 reasons.
Firstly,  because things that need correction (to my eye) are more apparent in photographs.
Secondly, I still get a kick out of the fact that I am actually painting nowadays, instead of 'wishing' I could and worrying what it looks like!
Thirdly, I just love taking photos !

First attempt

Result of a few more painting sessions.   However, I ended up in a bit of a quandary - two trees at the front look a bit much....but I like them both!

Decision made ... chop down one tree - lol !

Finished!
