An omen

Popped into town to get the Sunday papers yesterday.

The only parking space in the whole town was right in front of the bakery.... what's a girl to do -  I mean, that's an omen isn't it.... yep, a definite omen.

I was right, because as soon as I walked in, I saw it.
"What sort of tart is that?" I ask casually.
"Pecan - you'll love it".  Oh, our bakery lady is such a temptress!!

I love to share - so here's a look

It's bottom had even been dunked in chocolate

Bakery lady was right - I did love it too

Flowers for Leontien

Linking up with A Rural Journal for this caring blogging community event, especially for Leontien xx

Banana Squish

Got a bit hungry the other night... wanted something sweet but (as I was in my "just be sensible susan-mode" ) healthy.

Voy la ...  squished banana

Grabbed a banana, wrapped it in foil, bunged it into the sandwich-maker, and let it heat up until its juices started to flow.  Yummily nice and my need for a 'sweet hit' satisfied!

Keep smiling

"Now the situation is this... she's only left out one seed bell and, well, there's two of us"

"Uh huh... and  ???"
"What this means is that I will take care of it and you'll keep watch"

"Getting awful wet out here.  How long do I keep watch?"

"... until I tell you otherwise.
Just sit there and look pretty so she can take some photos"

"Okaaay"

"I'm actually doing you a favour.  This is hard as rock"

"What the heck has she got in it"

"Still posing - can I come and share some now?"

"Nah... believe me,  you've got the easiest job - keep smiling and she'll keep snapping"

A versatile mother hen

Time for some more of our trip photos I think.

We met a resourceful Thai lady who uses one of her hens to raise ducklings.

She is a diligent mother and her duckling 'chicks' are never out of her sight...

... except for when they decide to have a splash in the flooded rice paddy fields.  She gets a bit bemused and paces up and down while waiting for them to come out of the water.

We enjoyed seeing this happy little mixed family!

Life, Love ... plus bits of this n that

Life has been pretty topsy turvy this past month.

I'd like to say I took the advice that is attached to my fridge door ......

(Note: This is Not my picture. It's a copy of the front page of a card I purchased several years ago.
My watermark is on it as I take full responsibility for using someone else'swork without their permission.)

... but, no, I leant on all those I hold close to my heart, and all is well.

The power of Love is a wonderful thing.

I shall be popping back into my previous post and answering all those lovely comments and messages that were left in my absence.

Referring to my previously posted  mutila judiciously pruned garden art that-used-to-be-a-peach-tree, I am in the process of prettying its bare limbs up.

First off, I filled up the Desiree Nectar Feeder for the birds.  Have a look at who really appreciated it...

Yes, MD's bees partied all day long - I think there were a few hangovers the next morning!

~bzzzzzzzzz  (hic) bzzzzzzzz bzzzzzzz ~

Then I came up with a brilliant idea for using up some leftover bits of scone dough...

mixed some birdseed through and baked them until hard - actually, they're very hard, so time will tell if the birds think they're worth having a go at them.
After the first one, I found some old flour at the back of the pantry and made up more - it was good fun.

I have a few more ideas for ex-peachy tree,  and shall take some pictures of the results to share soon.

Next, a bit of a whinge, I'd like to show some horror pics of potholes I encountered recently on the Monaro Highway in New South Wales - (these extend some 30 or so kms either side of Bombala, so,  for anyone travelling in that area - beware because there's no advance warning!!)

This is the one that got our car - with oncoming traffic there wasn't much room to avoid it!

Now for something beautiful...

She's in our loungeroom.  I love her gracefulness.

Bye for now - will catch up over at your blogs a bit later. Cheers! Susan xx
