I am definitely not a robot

Oh dear, I've just been trying to post a comment on a blogfriend's post, and this came up, asking me to type in the 2 words ... what?  TWO words - Blogger has got to be kidding. I copied the image... have a look:

.... I haven't altered the image in any way.  How on earth am I to know what that first word is ?? I know I need new glasses but !!

I also know I'm only an occasional visitor to blogs, but having to spend ages trying to post a comment under these circumstances, sometimes makes me just go away.

Please, if you have Word Verification on your blog, perhaps you may re-consider because I have a feeling it's not just me who gets a bit frustrated at this stupid device!  (Phew, got that one off your chest didn't you Susan!!).

If this helps, here is a quick way to get rid of it.....

To turn off comment verification, go into Settings, then into Posts and comments  (I have copy and pasted the 'Comments' page below).

Scroll down to "Show word verification?" and select the "No" option.

If you have trouble with spammers etc, there is still the "Comment Moderation?" option.  It doesn't put commenters through these impossible and annoying hoops :D)

oh

....  "oh oh oh"

those little exclamations were all I could utter as I spied this Eastern Spinebill land in our Grevillea

It was through our lounge room window and,  every time in the past when I tried to sneak up and photograph it, it would fly away... frightened by any tiny movement on my part.
They're such timid, flighty, little birds

I couldn't believe it, this one stayed and I got my shots.
Oh, I dearly love Eastern Spinebills

Have a great weekend everyone :D)

An Update:  Here is a link to Birds in Backyards which contains lots of info about this wonderful tiny bird, including a recording of its sweet song.

A little bit of what we fancy

... and fruitcake was what we fancied!

MD had  fruit soaking in something nice.
Ideally, he prefers it to soak for a few days at the very least, however,

I nagged

and nagged

and so he gave in

(heh heh.... nagging works! )

He mixes until it feels just right....

He likes to wrap up his 'baby' nice and snug before it goes into the oven

Hours and hours later ....

ooh, neither of us can resist.... no nagging needed now - we eat it warm.
Oh yes, that hit the spot!

Fruit cake is fabulous with morning coffee too!

A few photos

... of  our next door neighbour, B's, garden.  In her seventies she created it, doing all the work herself including fencing.

B was fortunate in that, with support, right up to her nineties she was able to live at home until the end ... which came a week ago.

B's last days were just as she wanted, continuing to add little touches, here and there, to her garden.  This peacock was given the job of prettying up a bare stump.

The Autumn leaves had fallen, but there is always a beautiful spot in her garden to sit quietly.

Determined to keep going, she had these chain supports erected - for those occasional off-balance moments.

"Pick the lemons"  she'd yell over the fence.  We did!

An avid pruner of trees, she always asked whoever was doing the pruning for her to leave these particular Camellias alone.  I'd once remarked on how much I loved them... so B let them continue on their rampant way instead of being tamed and tidied.  I love how they cover our side of the fence.

Last year I asked if I could photograph her garden.  It was a delight to do so!

B had been in hospital and was thrilled when I gave her the printed photos.  She said she couldn't believe it was her garden - it looked beautiful !

These little fellows live just outside her front door.

Looking out across the fence early this morning, this King Parrot is waiting his turn at her bird feeder.

B knew she was going.  Didn't want anything to mark her passing.  She had no family, but wasn't alone.  Her last act will be to gift research into childrens' diseases.

Her garden carries on as gardens do. Just how B wanted.

Darn, if it isn't another Wattlebird!!

Not my fault...  another darn Wattlebird ingratiated her way into my camera view.

Yes, they're a bossy and pompous bird,

they make the silliest sounds at times,

but the poses they put out there

all to get a bit of nectar

always intrigue me and, so, I continue to click!
