We've been back home for a week now - still catching up on our sleep, plus starting to prune our overgrown garden and generally trying to "come back to earth" so to speak!
The trip was, well, just incredible. It was everything and much, much more than I would ever have expected.
Equally, it's wonderful to be back home too.
I've attached some pics of the start of our trip.
LOL ... bet you can't guess what I'm going to be posting about for the next while!!

The Sky Bus

We ended up having a 3 hour departure delay for our plane, so I amused myself taking random photos around the airport.

I got a bit cheeky with this pilot, but he just ignored me.

Being a country girl, I wasn't familiar with the new fangled hand-drying machine in the toilet. So a friendly lady obliged with a demo.

Still wandering and snapping pics

Loved some of the murals on the walls

That's our plane ... apparently they had to remove all the fuel before fixing whatever the problem was and, then, re-fuel it.

Finally, we're up up and away!
![]() |
Get ready for some obligatory 'photos through the plane window' Totally awesome to be above the clouds like that!

Suvarnabhumi Airport, Bangkok Most people use the travelator on the right, however, after 9 hours in the plane it was beaut to stretch the legs and walk.
![]() |
It's a huge airport - we walked for a long time before reaching Immigration etc... gave us a chance to wake up properly.

Hmm looks interesting!
Once out of the air-conditioned airport, we wilted a bit at Bangkok's stifling heat (even at midnight), and the humidity was so thick you could slice it!
Because of our flight delay, and by the time we reached our hotel, we had 4 hours in which to grab some sleep before catching a flight to Chiang Rai in Northern Thailand.
No worries though, we're a flexible pair of travellers and knew we were headed for cooler weather.
Cheerio for now, I'm going to be making my way (slowly) to everyone's blogs and enjoy doing a huge catch-up... see you there! :D)

What a wonderful surprise to see your blog pop up on my reader! WELCOME HOME!!! We missed you and now look forward eagerly to hearing all the details and seeing hundreds of pictures. This has been a good start :) I straight-away noticed your new header showcasing the lovely silk cushions and quirky lamp stand you bought on your trip. Also, the new profile pic of you with your beautiful sunshade! I do want to ask WHY you blocked out your face with your watermark in the one of you getting fresh with the pilot ;) Marvellous post, Susan and I can see we're in for a treat on this virtual journey with you! Big hug, Des xoxo

ReplyDeleteReally looking forward to sharing your travels, but you really don’t need to hide your face behind your pic sig. :)
Welcome home. I am eagerly awaiting to see your travel photos and by this post as a starter I can see we are in for a treat.
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm right there with you setting out on your exciting trip. It's always weird to arrive in places with very different temperatures to home, and I like that blast of heat in hot places, (although I get fed up of too much heat after a bit).
ReplyDeleteLook forward to the next instalment.
*BumbleVee... thanks for stopping by, yes I've a 'couple' of photos, and a few yarns - definitely!!
ReplyDelete*Vicki... hi and thanks! Lovely to receive your comments.
*Diane... many thanks and nice of you to say. I'm going to keep my pics small though. Would prefer to publish them in the larger size as I did prior to our trip, but the uploading takes so long it's frustrating. Unfortunately, it's a permanent problem we have because of our location and we are using the satellite system.
*Jenny... hi and thanks. Yes, we've had a big range of differing temperatures. When in North Vietnam it was very cold. We collected an assortment of layers of clothing along the way - even coats and hats for up there!
Welcome Back..So looking forward to reading about your journey!!!
