Those sure are some prickles! We have a similar cactus growing in our garden and they're devilish if you accidentally brush up against them, which I always seem to do when I need to pull out the odd stray weed!!! They usually give me a nasty, painful little blister!
~ Rhonda Jean, yes, especially on this subject ... darn it!!
~ BumbleVee, it's some sort of nasty cactus - beats me why I keep it! Ha ha, it's one of those universal "mum things"
~ Vicki, yep, and I love how it's passed down from daughter to daughter... and always ignored ;-)
~ Diane, LOL, oh, the things we wish for eh!! :D
~ DeeBee, yes, a real "prickle bush" and painful to boot if you touch it without gloves .... as in Desiree's comment
~ Desiree, ah, yes, I've had the misfortune of doing just that - too lazy to go get my glasses... just a little tug of a weed ****!!!
~ Thanks for dropping by everyone and leaving your comments, nice to share a LOL with you today on such a prickly subject!! (Sorry couldn't resist) Cheers, Susan :D
okay, showing my ignorance here. Do WHAT once? cut the plant back? I've only in the last few years started keeping plants alive (Hubby gardens...I cook!), so please forgive my cluelessness.
Hello Susan I think Mom's are always right eventually. Lol I mean I never thought my Mom knew anything till I was an adult. Now I think she was right most of the time. Nice Cactus.B
~ Laura, LOL... it's warm weather here now, so they thrive - leg hairs as well as cacti ;-)
~ Dmarie, eons ago I had my Dad's razor poised over my legs to give them their first shave (which they really didn't need either!)... Mum saw what I was about to do and offered those wise words. The other day, dashing out to the car for an appointment, I happened to look down and saw that cactus which reminded me .... aaaaaaaah I was going into town with hairy legs ;D
~ Buttons, absolutely :D ... oh, and you aren't alone in that revelation once an adult.
~ Mary, hi... yes, it's a cactus (um, sorry, don't know it's name, just that's it's hairy prickles are dreadful if you get them on you) - I grow it in a container. No, as far as I know it doesn't grow wild anywhere over here. The type of cactus that does grow wild (more up towards and in Queensland than down here in the South) is the Prickly Pear. I did read once that the fruit from the PP is being harvested and used in restaurants, it tastes very pleasant apparently.
Good morning Susan. Hope you haven't been chewing your toenails LOL! Hehe! Maa.
ReplyDeleteLOL, mum was right!
ReplyDeleteerm... what are they, please?
ReplyDeleteMy Mum used to say that about shaving our legs... hahahhaha...
Snap! That's exactly what my mum used to say, too, BumbleVee. :)
ReplyDeleteThat never happened with my hair and I wished it would.
ReplyDeleteFun post and fun comments! Don't know the name of that plant, it just looks like a hairy cucumber to me.
